EFFECTIVE PRESENTATION SKILL

Bismillah wal hamdulillah....

Salam ceria ^^, Salam yaumul Kubra..

saya baru sahaja selesai sesi public speaking atau presentation di hadapan bos dan rakan sepejabat saya...alhamdulillah rasa sangat lega kerana part saya sudah selesai..

Jumaat ini ( 21hb mei 2010) adalah permulaan bagi sesi ke3 untuk program speaker corner bagi department saya bekerja : Penang 2nd Bridge (UEM Builder). Pada dua sesi pembentangan yg lepas, semua pembentang boleh menggunakan slide presentation power point untk membantu semasa sesi pembentangan di jalankan. Namun, pada kali ini, kami tidak dibenarkan menggunakan sebarang alat bantuan pembentangan dan hanya boleh present dgn bantuan nota kecil n white board shj. Bagi saya ini adalah satu cabaran yg harus saya sahut!

It is easy to make a presentation with slide show, but it is more challenging to present wihtout any slides and it is double challenge to make audience understand with the topic that we are going to present.

Memandangkan audience saya adalah golongan korporat dan ada non-muslim, saya terpaksa berfikir panjang untk memilih tajuk yg sesuai dan yang dapat memberi manfaat kepada audience saya..

Sejujurnya saya lebih terarah untuk present tentang topik palestine..namun, saya freeze kan dulu tajuk tu untuk sesi hadapan..kali ni, saya ingin menarik minat non-muslim dgn cara penyampaian saya terlebih dahulu..

Di sini, saya kongsikan tips-tips untuk effective presentation skills.

Topic: effective presentation skills

Intro:
It is easy to present with slides but it is more challenging present without any slides.
The true essence in presentation is to make people understand with the topic that we gonna present. The best presentation is not bind with the fancy presentation slide, but it is actually depends on how much the audience understand the topic that u r present.

A BAD PRESENTATION
WHAT MAKES PRESENTATION BORED AND NOT INTERESTING?

· Speaking too softly – audience can’t hear your point or even your voice.

(masa cakap ni, sy buat2 suara slow sampai officemates saya gelak..hehe..yg pntg mesej sampai)
· Making little direct eye contact –
· Using overloads slides – too many slides with too many words make audience feels bored and sleepy.jadi elak copy paste sesuatu ayat terus ke slide...editlah sikit2 jadi ringkas n padat
· Rambling – our speech must be concise and precise..elak dari bercakap topik lain dari topik asal.

A GOOD PRESENTATION

• Being well organized – well prepared, choose the right topic for the right audience, make homework before make presentation
• Getting to the point
• Displaying confidence – smile and no shivering, use hand to reduce nerve
• Showing sincerity
• Relates well with the audience – eye contact is important..

KEY INGREDIENTS OF EFFECTIVE PRESENTATION

TWO IMPORTANT ELEMENTS IN PRESENTATION: SUBSTANCE & STYLE

• Content of the presentation

• Meet the level of knowledge for the audience

  - Identify topic – choose the right topic, do homework in choosing topic, get know the level of audience is important essence
  - Gain attention
  - make overview for topic chosen + introduction

  Can use various pattern
  -cause & effects
  -benefits & features
  -theory / plan of actions
  -problems solution
  - General to specific
  
  III) THE CONCLUSION
  - recap overall points of presentation
  - repeat the core message
  - use quote
  -Recommendation
  - or may use Simple story to conclude
  
  B. STYLE: HOW TO DELIVER EFFECTIVELY?
  - eye contact : engage well with the audience
  - Movements & gestures: don’t just standing. Relax ur body..don't nervous..
  - using ur voice: speaks clearly, confidence & conviction
  -Pratice and rehearse : present in front of the mirror is a good tips
  - use simple note to help
  - well prepared: relax & be a natural presenter

Alhamdulillah...saya merasa lega dapat membuat pembentangan dengan sebaiknya..bagi saya ianya bukan pembentangan yg terbaik dan sy harus improvekan lagi cara penyampaian saya..

Alhamdulillah juga kerana pembentangan saya berjaya menarik perhatian senior2 saya termasuk senior cina non- muslim (mr Tan minta nak copy nota presentation saya utk dia baca...^^,)...malah yang amat menggembirakan bos saya Dato' IR Roslam Ibrahim memuji pembentangan saya pada kali ni...Alhamdulillah..syukur pada Allah kerana membantu saya..

Buat kawan2 semua, harap tips ini dapat membantu anda semua utk membuat presentation kelak..(actually the info is same like other tips, just the style to deliver the idea is different)
